LOOKS LIKE NO MORE BOOK SALES AT THE U OF M. THE ARCHAIC AND USELESS ANTI-COMPETITION POLICY IS BEING INVOKED AGAIN. WILL CONTINUE TO SEE WHAT CAN BE DONE THERE.

WAS SET UP AT THE TOY AND ENTERTAINMENT EXPO IN CALGARY, JUNE 17 -19 AND IT WAS A VERY LARGE AND BUSY EVENT. TONS OF NEAT STUFF THERE AND SOME AMAZING GUESTS. WILL BE BACK IN 2012, IN APRIL.
UNIVERSITY OF MANITOBA NEWS: I CAN ONLY SET UP ON CAMPUS ONCE A SEMESTER, DURING UMSU'S ORIENTATION WEEK IN SEPTEMBER AND CELEBRATION WEEK IN JANUARY. WAS GRANTED PERMISSION TO SET UP DURING MARKET DAYS IN 2008/09 YEAR, AND THEN THEY CANCELED MARKET DAYS! VERY UNLIKELY THEY WILL REINSTATE IT. HENCE THE REASON WHY I TRAVEL TO SASKATCHEWAN UNIVERSITIES.
THERE ARE AROUND 4000 OF MY BOOKS AT THE FORKS IN THE JOHNSTON TERMINAL ANTIQUE MALL.
FRESH STOCK IS ADDED ABOUT TWO TIMES A MONTH LATELY. MY BOOKS ARE LOCATED IN THE OUTSIDE ROOM BEHIND THE STAIRWELL. MY YELLOW BOOKMAN SIGNS ARE THERE AND ALL OF MY BOOKS ARE MARKED JT. THERE IS A 25% OFF OBVERSTOCK SALE GOING ON THERE TOO, INCLUDES ALL MY BOOKS, NO EXCEPTIONS!
ALSO HAVE BOOKS AT THE OLD HOUSE REVIVAL COMPANY ANTIQUE MALL, 324 YOUNG STREET, A BLOCK FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF WINNIPEG. MY BOOKS ARE LOCATED ON THE THIRD FLOOR IN FRONT OF THE STAIRWELL.
This has been another great year for book scouting. Lots
of cool material has turned up and that will make it more likely you will find something you have been looking for at my sale events. Fresh stock is added each day, so you may want to check every day too. Also, don't be shy about asking for a title you don't see, it may be in inventory at home.
Free-Quent Shopper cards are available. If you don't have one, just ask, they are free. For every $5 worth of books you purchase you get a rubber stamp on the card. When the card is full of stamps you will get $5 off your next purchase, and there is no expiry date! |

The Bookman has been selling books on both university
campuses in Winnipeg since about 1988. In that time about
100,000 books have been sold to many thousands of students
and staff. I tend to get the same questions asked over and over
again, so below is a list of my frequently asked questions.
DO YOU SELL BOOKS ON THE INTERNET? Yes, about 10,000
books are listed on four web sites: abebooks, Alibris, Biblio, and Antiqbook. My primary web site is abebooks and the link below will

WHERE DO YOU GET YOUR BOOKS FROM? They are bought
from all over the city of Winnipeg at garage sales, estate sales,
thrift shops, rummage sales, charity book sales and from people
that contact me directly. Over the course of a year, I search through
about 300,000 books seeking the best quality material
for my clients, and end up buying about 15,000.
WHAT KIND OF BOOKS DO YOU HAVE? My specialty is in
literature, classics, scholarly works, and unusual non fiction. I
also handle science fiction, mysteries, horror, children's, health,
self help,comics, art, and any books that will appeal to my clients.

DO YOU HAVE A STORE? No, I am a home based business. What makes me different is that I bring the books to where my clients
are located for their convenience, rather than opening a store and
hoping they will come to me. People are busy these days, especially students, and my service has been greatly appreciated.
DO YOU HAVE MORE BOOKS THAN WHAT YOU HAVE BROUGHT? Sure do. My inventory contains about 38,000
volumes right now and I bring about 1000 to most events I do.

HOW MUCH ARE THE BOOKS? The books are all priced in
pencil on the first inside page, or the first blank inside page if the first is illustrated or darkly colored. The prices will be less than
50% of what they would cost new.
